Jason Prentice Ahlquist is the publisher and founder of MarsDust Online. He has been a publishing consultant for the past seven years, travelling to over eighty newspapers and magazines to help them through turbulant periods of technological change. He has spoken at New York University and Eastern Michigan University about the future of technology in the modern newsroom. He is also a fine artist whose work has been seen on the Sci-Fi Channel website and Juxtapoz magazine among other places. Aside from art, scifi and causing trouble, Jason also enjoys running, weightlifting, hiking and mountain biking. He has a profound respect for half pipe skateboarding and surfing, but is too much of a chicken to seriously attempt either sport. Unfortunately for him, his daughter Zoe is interested in both and he might just have to suck it up so he can enjoy those things with her. In 1997 Jason was one of the original signers of the Extropic Art Manifesto. Other signers included Greg Bear, Gregory Benford and Linda Nagata. This document of artistic purpose was placed on board the Cassini Huygens spacecraft on its mission to Saturn as a representation of humanities hopes and aspirtations for the future. The text of document can be read here.
